Goeller is a specialist in American studies and a journalist covering international politics with special emphasis on the Arab World and the USA. Previously, he had been a correspondent for the Washington Times and a columnist for the Egyptian monthly, Egypt Today. He reported from Washington from 2000 until 2004.

is a private lecturer in political science at the Free University of Berlin (FU Berlin) as well as a freelance author, speaker, and political consultant. His work focuses on U.S. domestic and foreign policy, the global radical right, globalization and development, and international labor union policy. In June 2026, his book The International Network of the Radical Right was published by J.H.W. Dietz.
